Finished swatch

Thanks for all the enouraging comments!

I stuck with it some more, but eventually that first swatch went completely haywire so I frogged it, cast on again, and did one that I think came out much better. I worked for a while at learning to purl, which was a little strange. That’s going to take more practice to get right.

But I’ve set the knitting aside for a while because I need to get back to finishing holiday gifts—I don’t want to be hurrying to get everything done at the last minute.

Anyway, here it is:
Everything looks more or less even on this side, not nearly as many weird-looking stitches as the first swatch.

but on the other side you can see it’s kinda wonky. The cast-on row is sorta loopy, and the bound-off end looks like it’s tighter than it ought to be. I was having a hard time with that, kept ending up having the wrong stitch come off the needle and then had to try to scoop it back up before it unraveled on me.

I had the same problems. It’s amazing what happens when you try and try again :) My bind off row is always a little tighter, it’ssomething I have to practice harder at. Most people also think that Purl is the more difficult of the two :) You’ll get it when you have the chance to do it again! :)

Hey it looks good to me. *Ü* Of course I do not knit yet and only crochet. I hope that when I start it looks as good as yours.

Your knitting is coming along just fine.
My husband just learned to knit and he’s all stressed out about it.

Well I think it looks pretty durned good! Keep trying =) You’re inspiring me to maybe possibly break out the needles that came with my ebay win and give it a try. We’ll see though lol I have so many other things I want to do right now that I can’t decide where to start, I probably shouldn’t add Learning to Knit to that list huh? Maybe after the holidays, till then I’ll just enjoy watching you learn heheh
