Accent

Swiped from Deneen.

I’m a little puzzled about how this came out. I have never lived in the South, though I have lived with Southerners so maybe it rubbed off some. I don’t know anymore what sort of accent I have, really, but I’m pretty sure it’s not southern much.

(Kari? Marvie? What kind of accent do I really have?)

I don’t know why the little barzamathingies are not showing up–I’m pretty sure I pasted the right thing–but it was south 69%, midland 65%, and gradually getting smaller from there till it hit boston 25%, which is funny because that’s where I, y’know, learned to talk.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The South

That’s a Southern accent you’ve got there. You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don’t have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.

The Inland North

It’s a good thing it’s not a big afghan

I am now on row 80 of 91, except that I’m increasingly sure it’s going to need more like 103 rows instead of 91. Fortunately the border looks like it’s a multiple of three, and so is the pattern for the main afghan (the pattern is in multiples of three rows, that is) so as long as I add extra rows in threes I should be okay.

I kinda expected this. My stitches tend to be a little short; I can pretty much always match the stitch gauge in a pattern but hardly ever the row gauge.

I need to find a comfier chair to crochet in at work. Yes, I am mostly crocheting at work right now; that’s one of the benefits to being your own boss, that nobody can fire your ass for spending half your workday crocheting frantically. Anyway, my desk chair is apparently not so much the thing for crocheting, and my upper back and neck kinda seized up on me last night. Basically my entire trapezius muscle on the right side was in spasm. That suuuucked. I am trying to sit up straight today and not aggravate it.

And now for something completely different: (ooh, can you tell I’m procrastinating?)

Seen at Lori’s and Trish’s.

I did this yesterday and some of it looks a little weird now, like I marked the wrong books or something. I suppose it’s mostly accurate.

Bloglines appears to be thoroughly broken today. I can’t get there at all. Is it just me? (Nope, it’s not just me. I just tried again and got the Dread Plumber.)

The bag is dried and blocked and just needs a lining and the strap sewn on. With any luck I might get to it this weekend—most of this week I’m either working till midnight or else busy with other plans. I plan to get over the Fear of Lining Bags once and for all and do both bags at once.

I can’t wait to get it finished. It totally, perfectly matches my three favorite shirts. (I have three nearly identical rib-knit type t-shirts in maroon/wine red/burgundy-ish colors. I am constantly on the lookout at thrift stores for more clones of this shirt. If I had more I would wear them every single day.)

I ordered the Rigilene boning for the corset from corsetmaking.com yesterday and already got a shipping notification. They seem like really nice people. I had a question I needed answered before I could order, and someone got back to me really quickly and was very helpful and nice. If you ever need corset boning, go see them. Really.

And now for something completely different:

Oooh! I have subtle dimensions!

You Are an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie

On the surface, you’re a little plain – but you have many subtle dimensions to your personality.
Sometimes you’re down to earth and crunchy. Other times, you’re sweet and a little gooey.

And red underwear!

Your Lucky Underwear Is Red

You’re confident and bold, and your lucky red underwear will only make you more sure of yourself.
You have a great zest for life, and you tend to take on impossible goals – and succeed.

When it comes to love, it’s hard for you to take the time to open up. You’re too busy conquering the world.
So if you’re looking for a little more romance, put on your red underpants. And see where their passion takes you!

Okay then…

Your Theme Song is Back in Black by AC/DC

“Back in black, I hit the sack,
I’ve been too long, I’m glad to be back”

Things sometimes get really crazy for you, and sometimes you have to get away from all the chaos.
But each time you stage your comeback, it’s even better than the last!

So if I’m lucky, someone will notice I’m dead and I won’t get eaten by the nice doggy…

Your Famous Last Words Will Be:

“Nice doggy.”

Scattered? Moi?

I’m reasonably sure I took this odd little quiz once before with radically different results.

(Maybe I was feeling less, er, scattered at the time.)

Your Brain’s Pattern

Your mind is a firestorm – full of intensity and drama.
Your thoughts may seem scattered to you most of the time…
But they often seem strong and passionate to those around you.
You are a natural influencer. The thoughts you share are very powerful and persuading.

Woo!

I’m late to the party with this one. Actually I generated it and uploaded it a while ago but forgot to post it. (D’oh!) Hey, look, Mr. Doo is in my word cloud!

(You can get one here if there’s anyone out there who wants one and hasn’t already done it yet.)

That’s all for now, I think. No knitting pictures today. I got about fifteen or so rows done last night, but I’m feeling a little discouraged.
